The Dubuque Dance Company Team Information & Policies
School Year
- Company meets for 90 minutes on Mondays.
- If a student misses class, make-up opportunities are available. While the exact Company material may not be covered, the student will receive an appropriate workout at their level.
Summer
- Company meets twice per week, Monday–Thursday.
- Weekends are free except for optional performances.
- Summer performances are family-friendly and are not mandatory. Attend the performances that work for your family.
- Performance dates are posted on the studio calendar.
- All teams have the week of July 4th off.

Qualifications & Commitment
- Students must be enrolled in a weekday Tap/Lyrical/Jazz-Hip Hop class.
- Company is open to anyone who would like to participate.
- Students begin at the appropriate beginning level and progress by learning and passing required skills.
- Our level system gives students clear skills to work toward and goals for advancement.
- Company is a year-round program.
Please give notice by March 1st for both summer and the next school year.
Our staffing is based on enrollment. Instructors must be scheduled, trained, and certified in advance for each term. When notice is not received by the required deadline, families are responsible for fees as outlined on the registration form and online agreement.
Class & Performance Attire
For Class
- Leotard and tights
- Shoes used for weekday class
- Hair in a bun
For Performances
- Company shorts
- Black Company leotard or crop top.
- Tan, white, or pink tights as directed
- Tights should always match the color of the shoes
- White tap and ballet shoes for students in 30–45 minute weekday classes
- Tan tap shoes for students in 90-minute classes
- Tan jazz shoes or half shoes
- Hair in a bun
- Members ages 8+ should have pointe shoes and a professional tutu when required.
- Pink tights are always worn with pointe shoes for performances.
Company Warm-Up
- A Company warm-up is required and must be worn at all Company events.
- Please order warm-ups and bags through our designated Company store.
- Orders generally take 4–6 weeks and may take up to 10 weeks during busy periods.

Account Standing
Students must have their studio account in good standing in order to participate in performances and events. If tuition, event fees, or other charges are past due, event fees will not be paid and the student may not participate until the account is brought current.
Attendance
We understand that students occasionally need to miss class.
- Please notify the studio in writing by email when a student will be absent.
- For illness, notify us as soon as reasonably possible.
- For planned absences, please provide at least 10 days’ notice.
- If a student will miss a performance, please RSVP at least 10 days in advance, except in cases of illness, emergency, or other unexpected circumstances.
Company members are welcome to attend classes below their current level at no additional charge. These classes may be used for make-ups, additional practice, or extra work on skills.
Performances
Company members generally perform:
- Twice during the November and May recital periods
- Company does not perform in the March recital
- Stadium performances are generally held January–April
- Additional Company performances may be offered throughout the year
All stadium shows and additional performances are posted on the studio calendar. Company families should check the calendar at least monthly for updates.
Company Conduct Policy
DDSGC Company members and families represent our studio both inside and outside the building.
Students and parents are expected to treat fellow dancers, teams, instructors, directors, organizations, and events with respect. Negative comments, gossip, or disrespectful conversations about other performers, groups, directors, events, or DDSGC are not appropriate at the studio, at performances, through text messages, or on social media.
