Dance Recital Information
Recitals are such a special part of our dance year! They give our kiddos an opportunity to share what they have learned, experience the excitement of performing, and create some wonderful memories with their dance friends and families. 🩷
We typically offer three recital opportunities throughout the dance year (Individual Performance Information is at the Bottom of This Page:)
- Thanksgiving Weekend – Sunday
Approximately 1½–2 hours - Early March – usually the first weekend
Approximately 1 hour per performance - May – usually the third Saturday
2027 Recital: Saturday, May 22
Approximately 1½–2 hours
The wonderful part is that your dancer’s one costume purchase is used for all three performances throughout the year.
Participating in Recitals
While recital participation is optional, dancers are initially included in our costume order and recital plans.
If your dancer will not be participating, please opt out of the initial costume order by emailing dubuquedance@gmail.com.
Families joining dance after October 1 should please confirm in writing if they would like their dancer to participate in the recitals for that September–May dance year.
We truly hope your dancer is able to join us! Performing is a wonderful opportunity for our kiddos to celebrate their hard work and experience being part of something special with their classmates. 🩷
Recital & Costume Fees
There are two one-time fees for the recital season:
- Stage Fee: $30
- Costume Fee: $90
- These fees are combined into one recital fee of $120.00
These fees are automatically processed with October tuition.
Your costume fee includes:
- One recital costume
- One pair of tights
Please remember that tights should coordinate with your dancer’s shoes. For example, white tap shoes are worn with white tights, and tan jazz shoes are worn with tan tights.
If you need to make payment arrangements different from those listed above, please contact us. We are always happy to communicate with you and work through arrangements ahead of time.
Because costumes, facilities, and recital preparations require advance commitments, recital and costume fees are non-refundable.
A Note About Our Schedules
We provide recital schedules as early as we possibly can so families have plenty of time to plan.
Please remember that we are coordinating many dancers, classes, families, volunteers, venues, and other schedules. Occasionally, adjustments may need to be made as we get closer to a performance.
We greatly appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we work to create the best possible experience for all of our dancers. 🩷
Hair & Makeup
The instructional videos below are available to make recital preparation a little easier.
Makeup is suggested but never required. Stage lighting can make facial features more difficult to see from the audience, so makeup can help your dancer’s expressions show more clearly. Please use your own discretion and do whatever feels comfortable and appropriate for your child.
We do ask our female dancers to wear their hair in a bun for performances. Practicing a bun occasionally throughout the year—even once a week before class—can make recital preparation much quicker and easier when performance day arrives!

One Last Note From Miss Dee 🩷
Recital days are some of my favorite days of our entire dance year. There is something very special about watching our kiddos step onto the stage, sometimes nervous, sometimes bursting with confidence, and realize just how much they have learned and grown.
Thank you for all that you do behind the scenes—getting dancers to class, practicing, finding tights and shoes, fixing buns, getting everyone where they need to be on time, and cheering them on from the audience.
It truly takes all of us to create these special moments for our children, and I am so grateful that you share them with us.
